Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) -Initial

Course Content

• Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting
the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions,
use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
• Airway management
• Related pharmacology
• Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
• Effective communication as a member and leader of a
resuscitation team
• Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

Course Length: This class will be held over 2 consecutive days lasting 10-12 hours depending on break time. 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) -Refresher

     This course is designed primarily for healthcare professionals in emergency departments, intensive care units,  critical care departments, surgical areas, or pre-hospital environments, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.  

     The ACLS Provider course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest, symptomatic bradyarrhythmia, tachyarrhythmia, acute coronary syndrome, and acute ischemic stroke.


Course length is 5-6 hours depending on break time.

BLS for HealthCare Providers (Initial)

Course Content:

• Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

• Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

• The American Heart Association Chain of Survival

• 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

• 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

• Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques

• Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant

• Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

• Relief of choking for adult, child and infant

BLS for HealthCare Providers (Recert)

Course Content:

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) -Initial

     The PALS course is designed to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children and help improve outcomes.

     Initial Course Approximately 12 hours (depending on break time)

     This course is intended for Pediatricians, emergency room personel, family, and other physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners, paramedics. respiratory therapists, and other providers required to initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) -Refresher

HeartSaver First Aid with CPR & AED -combo

This classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in First Aid, CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.  


It is the policy of the American Heart Association that textbooks be made available to the student before, during, and after the class.  Textbooks are included in the course registration fee and will be provided in class unless other arrangements have been made to have the book shipped or picked up prior to the start of class.

 Course length: 5-7  hours

HeartSaver CPR AED (no First Aid) $55

     The course teaches the basic techniques of Adult,Child, Infant CPR, use of an AED.  Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and how to administer First Aid for choking victims. Designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

Course will last approximately 3 -4 hours

     This classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in First Aid, CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

HeartSaver First Aid (no CPR AED)

     The HeartSaver First Aid (does not include CPR Training) teaches general principals, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

·First aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, calling for help and more)
· Medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, shock and more)
· Injury emergencies (actions for bleeding, broken bones, burns and more)
· Environmental emergencies

     Designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in Basic First Aid to meet job, regulatory or other requirement.

HeartSaver Pediatric CPR & First Aid

     The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid course is designed to meet the regulatory and credentialed training requirements for child care workers in all 50 states.  This course teaches basic first aid, CPR, and AED skills for children such as:
• What to do when a child or infant has a breathing problem
• Giving compressions and breaths to an infant or child
• Stopping bleeding that can be seen

     Due to the high operational standards of the American Heart Association, the HeartSaver Pediatric First Aid Course and certification card are recognized by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and do not require 'EMSA' stickers.

     It is the policy of the American Heart Association that textbooks be made available to the student before, during, and after the class.  Textbooks are included in the course registration fee and will be provided in class unless other arrangements have been made to have the book shipped or picked up prior to the start of class.

Course Length:  8 hours

ECG & Pharmacology (ACLS Prep)

     The AHA’s ECG & Pharmacology Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.


     This classroom-based, Instructor-led course covers basic electrophysiology, normal ECG measurements, basic arrhythmias and the administration of appropriate drugs within the ACLS algorithms. The course contains two modules, ECG and Pharmacology, which may be taught separately or combined into one course. The ECG module takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete, while the Pharmacology module takes about 2.75 hours to complete. When taught together, the estimated course length is 6.25 hours without breaks.

     Upon successful completion of each module, students will receive a Certificate of Completion. Completion of this course does not result in an AHA course completion card.

BLS for Healthcare Providers -ANYTIME ( e-Learning)

 

An ideal option for healthcare providers seeking an alternative to traditional classroom training for initial or renewal training that provides a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card. 

Students will learn single-rescuer and team basic life support for adults, children and infants through 5 interactive exercises, scenarios and a written test. Navigation controls allow students to move easily through content as they learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Course also teaches relief of choking.

This self-paced course is accessible anytime from any computer. Students can access the BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual, BLS Pocket Reference Card and more for 24 months.

 

Skills Sessions will last approximately 15 minutes or until student is comfortable.  Once complete you will receive AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification Card.

HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Part 1 (e-Learning)

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online Part 1 is a Web-based, self-directed program. The program teaches students critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Content includes how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies, as well as perform CPR and use an AED.

     Once the student has successfully completed the online course, they may contact us to schedule Parts 2 and 3 (Skills Practice and Evaluation) at either NorCal Emergency Medical Training location. 

     Once the skills test has been successfully completed the student will receive their official AHA HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Card valid for 2 years.

HeartCode ACLS Part 1 (e-Learning)

 

     Busy healthcare providers often need an alternative to traditional, classroom-based ACLS training. HeartCode® ACLS is an official, self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program from the American Heart Association (AHA). HeartCode® ACLS Part 1 uses eSimulation technology to present realistic patient scenarios.

     Students are presented with a team dynamics lesson, 10 ACLS hospital-based case scenarios, and a written exam. While interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on ACLS guidelines, and provide treatment.

     After the successful completion of Part 1, the cognitive component, the student should contact NorCal Emergency Medical Training to schedule Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with one of our AHA ACLS Instructors.  After successful completion of all 3 components the student will be issued an official AHA ACLS Provider course completion card valid for 2 years.

This course has been tested on Windows XP and Mac OSX, with Internet Explorer 7+ or Firefox 2+. HeartCode programs are not supported by Apple Safari.

BLS Textbook $15

The American Heart Associations BLS for Healthcare Provider textbook has been updated to reflect the 2010 Guidelines of CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care.
